Good combs are not expensive, but you’ve got to be willing to pay a little more than one or two pound at your local Store, or SP to get one.
The problem with drug store combs is that they’re usually made of plastic. Using a cheaply made plastic comb will scratch and snag your hair, causing breakage and split ends.
The best combs are made of acetate or animal horn. These materials are easily buffed out and will not cause the same kind of snagging or other resulting issues that plastic combs will. Plus, they just look and feel a lot nicer.
These days you can find plenty of combs in brass or steel as well.
